We sat down with ViVi Vex to talk about her new album and what’s to come. ViVi Vex is a brand new overnight success after just a few previews for her debut album. It features some very notable producers from famous bands. The album gained 10,000 downloads in just 30 minutes and 1,000,000 downloads after 24 hours on bandcamp. ViVi Vex has sparked an entire subculture and dedicated fan base over night as well called ‘Rust Punks’ which you may have heard of already. So far they have their own unique fashion style, music genre, and even an entire religion! It’s safe to say that Rust Punk and ViVi Vex fandom has become a lifestyle to thousands of fans. So when we witnessed this, we knew we had to interview her. So we sat down with her in our studio for a few questions, and this is how it went;
Interviewer: What went through your mind before and after the release? Were you shocked to see it get so much attention so quickly?
ViVi Vex: Honestly I didn’t think anything would happen besides a few friends checking out a song or two. I woke up the next day to a whole new life. I don’t even know what to think...
Interviewer: It must have been shocking! What will you do now that it’s out and so many people know who you are? Any chance of a ViVi Vex tour?
ViVi Vex: Yeah tour would be great, the label is talking about touring the east coast, Canada, and Europe after summer.
Interviewer: You mentioned the label, we’d like to get in on that subject. How did you feel about signing to a major record release after just one album? We haven’t seen that since the music industry planted nu metal bands. Do you think people will think of you as an industry plant or even illuminati?
ViVi Vex: It was a little intimidating but I think I’m getting used to it, and no I don’t mind if people think I’m an industry plant. Could be worse right?
Interviewer: I agree! So are there any plans for the second album in the pipeline or is that something that we’ll have to wait for?
ViVi Vex: Yeah I had most of the instrumentals, lyrics, and story concepts done by the time the first album was halfway done. There will be some waiting but most likely not as long as the first album’s wait.
